Key Stage 4 Hospitality and Catering Curriculum Intent
A learner at KS4 will be independent and showcase a love for research and empathy for their surroundings. Learners are challenged to develop an understanding of costs, materials/ingredients, impact on consumers and requirement. All scenarios breed a further understanding and lifelong ambition to make a difference to society as a whole, through experience and invention.
Key Stage 4 – Overview
Pupils will build knowledge to support their examination which makes up 40% of the course in the first year whilst applying practical skills when they are appropriate to their learning. From term 1 year one pupils will also develop the knowledge and applicable skills that will support their coursework which makes up 60% of their course. Scenarios provided by the exam board will direct pupils to plan a menu and deliver that menu to a customer before reviewing and evaluating there skill for future adaptations.
