Key Stage 4 Design Technology Curriculum Intent

A learner at KS4 will be independent and showcase a love for research and empathy for their surroundings. Learners are challenged to develop an understanding of costs, materials/ingredients, impact on consumers and requirement. All scenarios breed a further understanding and lifelong ambition to make a difference to society as a whole through experience and invention.

Key Stage 4 – Overview

Pupils will build knowledge to support their examination which makes up 50% of the course in the first year whilst applying practical skills when they are appropriate to their learning. From term 6 in year 10 pupils will begin their coursework which makes up the other 50% of the course. This relies heavily on design and making processes.
